Startup Weekend Tampa is quickly approaching and we are looking to start building our volunteer lists. Whether you’re looking to donate a few hours, an entire day or the entire weekend, we could definitely use the help.

What Is Startup Weekend Tampa?
Startup Weekend Tampa is an intense 54 hour event where a community of entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, developers, designers, marketing gurus and anyone interested in building a business come together over the course of a weekend to share ideas, form teams, and launch a startup. No Talk, All Action. Launch a Startup in 54 hours.
Basically Startup Weekend Tampa is an event that starts at 6pm on Friday April 13, 2012 with a registration, casual dinner, usually pizza, and mingling. After the registrations are complete we move onto the welcoming and pitch session. This is where we tell you exactly what to expect, do a few ice breakers, and then move on to the public pitch session where people that have a business/ web app idea pitch it to the attendees.
After all pitches are made all attendees get 3 votes.
Not everyone will pitch an idea as some people come simply because they have a skill that’s beneficial to startup businesses and plan to join a team.
The 8-10 businesses with the most votes begin forming teams and quickly find an area and get to work.
Snacks, caffeine and strategy make up the rest of Friday evening into Saturday.
Saturday we have mentors on hand to help with any questions or problems. We also have hand picked some great speakers that will motivate and shed light on the entrepreneurial ecosystem and process.
** Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are all supplied Saturday and Sunday! **
Sunday continues as Saturday did only we begin practice pitches because your team will be pitching at the end of the event to a panel of judges for some pretty sweet prizes.
Sunday evenings pitch event draws out the local community of enthusiasts, family, friends, business owners as well as media.
Each team will pitch the business that they have built over the course of the weekend, the judges will vote and a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team will be chosen.
This event is fast-paced, and businesses that come out of Startup Tampa have potential for so much more. Just ask the folks at Dropost.it and Kngroo.
